Character and Presence.
Using graphite, charcoal, conte and pastel we will look at the fundamentals of portrait drawing exploring line and tone to build structure and balance to create a convincing and dynamic portrayal of character.
Martin Brooks is a well known oil painter and portrait artist. Aside from his tutoring, Martin’s work has been selected for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition at the Mall Galleries. His work has been selected for the BP Portrait award 2016. Recently with the support of the British Council and Arts Council he has spent time in Pennsylvania painting the Amish community.
