This course will
provide an introduction to the art and basic processes of printmaking
in general and more in-depth coverage of lino-cutting in particular.
The course is suitable for complete
beginners but all levels of experience are
welcome.
Over the two days of
the workshop he will cover:
Image
design (positive-negative, image reversal
)
Cutting
a plate (line types, patterns)
Inking
the plate
Registration
techniques
Printing
methods (by hand and by press)
Introducing
more colours (various techniques)
Other
possibilities…
In addition,
other printmaking techniques (e.g. etching, collagraph, drypoint)
will be illustrated. There will be time to design, cut and print
several linocut images, some individually
and others as a group.
By the end of the
course you should have a good understanding of the main processes of
printmaking and be confident to produce a linocut print by hand or
using a press.

All
materials and papers included. Some basic equipment for home
printing will be available to purchase at cost.
