Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 November 2023
10.30 am to 4 pm
In this two-day workshop we will be looking at a practical and expressive approach to landscape painting. This will include references to historical and contemporary
landscape artists, considering techniques for working expressively and developing mark-making. You will have the choice to work in Acrylics or Oils [low odour solvent or solvent free only].
What to expect:
The first day will act as an introducƟon to landscape painting in an expressive way, as we explore fast and loose approaches and getting marks down on our surface using small studies and exercises. We will explore colour-mixing and how to represent the landscape tonally in black & white and then creating chromatic greys and darks to depict a sense of dramatic light and weather. Also, on day one we will be considering texture and how to interpret it in paint.
On day two we will move into a painting on a preprepared surface and develop this throughout the day.
Although we will be using the landscape as our reference for this workshop, the techniques covered can be applied to other subjects such as seascapes.
Who would this workshop suit?
